Hello! My name is Sarah Botta and I am a Wedding and Portrait Photographer. The feel of a 4x6 image in my hands reliving captured memories is what lead to me falling in love with photography when I was only 6! It wasn’t until after I got married in 2013, I turned my love for photography into a business. My style is romantic, elegant, classic portraits full of beautiful light. When I’m not photographing anything you can find me enjoying a cup of coffee either from a local coffee shoppe or on the couch with my husband and daughter, exploring the great outdoors, swimming or skiing. I’m known for smiling a lot, being adventurous, enjoying and adapting to any situation. I adore working with adventurous, head-over-heels in love couples and can’t wait to tell your story.
On my blog I share my recent work, wedding planning tips, as well as stories from my latest travels and adventures.

6 years ago my husband and I were a newly engaged couple searching for our wedding venue. One day, Danny and I were walking around the Ferguson’s property in Edinburg, Virginia. Their home is one of favorite places in the Shenandoah County because we you’re surrounded by trees right along the Shenandoah River. During our walk along the river, we talked about wedding venues options and were feeling a little discouraged. I had always dreamed of an outdoor wedding and none of the venues that came to mind had what we were looking for.
Danny and I walked up to the Ferguson’s house and continued talking about wedding plans in their gazebo. At this point Janet came outside to join us. Janet and her husband David own the house and property along the river. They have been family friends for as long as I can remember. As Janet quietly listened to us talk about wedding venues, she speaks up and says, “why don’t you get married here?” I have never felt SO excited yet acted SO calm in my life. I knew that I would absolutely LOVE getting married there but I didn’t know if she was serious or if that was even possible. She went on to say that she wondered why no one had ever gotten married on their property before since it’s the perfect location for a wedding. At that point I knew she was serious and I was just in shock that we could be getting married there!
Janet and David’s home is along the Shenandoah River and surrounded by the river on 3 sides. Growing up they always had the church Easter egg hunt on their land. When I was 7 I was baptized with my best friend in their pool and when I turned 16 my sweet 16th birthday party was also at their house. When I was a teen and in college, I’d always bring my friends over to show them the river dam and go swimming in the river afterwards. The Ferguson’s home has so many fond memories I couldn’t have imagined getting married anywhere else.
The Fergusons and the Hitts put so much thought and effort into making sure the property was perfect for the wedding. They hung lights above their pool, ordered tall heaters so guests wouldn’t freeze, and cleaned up the brush along the river so guests could look out and see the river during the ceremony. Those are big things I know about! I know that there was so much more that I don’t even realize. They really went above and beyond anything I could have ever imagined.
Janet and David, thank you for opening your home so Danny and I could have the most perfect wedding. Our wedding day was unforgettable and I am forever grateful for you both and for all of your hard work that made May 25th 2013 so spectacular.
Ever since we got married I knew that no gift card or letter could ever be a good enough thank you for how grateful I am. I knew that I wanted to gift them a family session!! As a photographer I don’t think there is any better gift then photos. For the last few years I have been wanting to photograph the Ferguson family as a thank you. It was hard getting the whole family together because the older grandchildren left for college, I moved away, and it just never seemed to work out, until now. We were finally able to get everyone together the day after Thanksgiving 2017. It may have been 4.5 years later but better late then never. I’m so exited that I was able to gift them family photos.
Fergusons and Hitts, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. <3
