Wedding FAQs

What is an online gallery?
I use PASS for my online galleries from which I’ll provide you a link to your gallery that allows you to download high resolution images, share to social media and order high-quality prints if you so choose.

Do I get digital images and can I print them wherever I like?
Absolutely! I provide a gallery of digital images to my wedding couples. The images are not watermarked or low quality. Go ahead and take your images wherever works for you. I’ll give you a full print release to do so. The only time I recommend going through the gallery to order is if you’re blowing up a print to a large size or want colors that are exactly true to what you see in the gallery.

How many hours of wedding coverage do I need?
I always recommend at least 8 hours of coverage because it gives you tons of time to get the images and locations you want and it also adds in some padding time in case the timeline runs a little late throughout the day (which is totally normal). If you’re ceremony and reception are at two different locations or you’re having a longer ceremony (more than 30 minutes) you’ll most likely need an extra hour or two of coverage if you want your special sparkler exit photographed.

Do you travel for weddings and engagements?
Of course! In 2017 I traveled to Tennessee for a wedding and Minnesota for an engagement session. I’m quite the travel bug and am always up for a new adventure. If you have a certain destination in mind or live outside of Northern Virginia message me for travel details and pricing.

How long will it take to receive our wedding photos?
My turn around time for your final images is a month! When your gallery is ready, you will receive an email letting you know you can dive right in! You will receive sneak peeks before your final gallery is ready. I know your’e excited and so am I! I can’t wait to share your images with you.

How many final images will we receive?
Every wedding, location and day is different, but typically my average for an 8 hour wedding is at least 800 images or 100 images and hour. I also operate by the motto “if they’re good, you’ll get them”, so I don’t put a cap on how many final images I deliver to you because I want you to get the most out of my services for the day. Since every image tells a story, I want you to have every piece of that story.

Do you recommend an engagement session?
I love engagement sessions! Not only is this a fun way for us to get to know each other and for me to find out your style, it will give you a little taste of how your wedding day will go and what sort of final images to expect. Plus, you’ll get some awesome photos for social media and your Save the Date!

Do you have insurance?
Yes, I’m fully insured and can provide proof of insurance to your venue if they request it. Please let me know at the time of booking if you need me to contact your venue and provide any documentation.

What camera gear do you use?
I use two 5D Mark iii’s as my camera bodies and a 50mm, 85mm, 24-70mm, and 70-200mm that I switch between throughout the day. My style is to celebrate the natural light on your day so I don’t use flash often. I do have both an on-camera and off-camera flash system that I break out for the reception to make sure I capture all the crazy dance moves.

What do you mean by “edited” images?
I tell all my brides that I edit all of my images as if they were my own. Each and every photo is fully color corrected, retouched if necessary, and edited to fit the light & airy style you see across my portfolio. I’m all about consistency and delivering you a final product you’ll love.

How many weddings have you photographed?
I photographed my first wedding in 2009! It wasn’t until 2015 I realized I loved weddings and wanted to focus on wedding photography. At the end of 2017 I’ll have photographed 33 weddings.

We would like to book you, what’s next?
To officially book me as your wedding photographer, all I need is a signed contract and a 50% retainer of your wedding total. (Payment plans are also available if you need to split your payments into 4 payments instead of 2 payments.) The remainder of the balance is due one month prior to your wedding date. Don’t worry, I’ll email you a reminder when your balance is due.
