Hello! My name is Sarah Botta and I am a Wedding and Portrait Photographer. The feel of a 4x6 image in my hands reliving captured memories is what lead to me falling in love with photography when I was only 6! It wasn’t until after I got married in 2013, I turned my love for photography into a business. My style is romantic, elegant, classic portraits full of beautiful light. When I’m not photographing anything you can find me enjoying a cup of coffee either from a local coffee shoppe or on the couch with my husband and daughter, exploring the great outdoors, swimming or skiing. I’m known for smiling a lot, being adventurous, enjoying and adapting to any situation. I adore working with adventurous, head-over-heels in love couples and can’t wait to tell your story.
On my blog I share my recent work, wedding planning tips, as well as stories from my latest travels and adventures.

It’s not everyday you have a couple that has access to a dock and boat and says, “there is this private island near our house we could do our engagement photos but it’s only accessible by boat. Would that work for our engagement photos?” Um what!? Yes! I had the opportunity to photograph Sarah and Jon’s Hart Miller Island Engagement Session in Essex, Maryland. We had a gorgeous Friday night and it took all I had in me not to jump into the enticing water.
We first started their engagement session taking a few photos in front of their new home! They closed on their home just 3 days prior! That whole area is so special to them because they grew up in that area together. They have known each other since they were 10 but didn’t start dating until their 20’s. It must have been so neat growing up with your soul mate and of course not even knowing it.
Jon’s parents picked us up in the boat off the dock and took us over to the island. It was about a 10 minute ride and Jon followed us on a jet ski. Well, he didn’t “follow” us, he definitely just jetted on over, haha. Jon was on the jet ski because the island had no dock. Jon took me and Sarah on over to the island one at a time then we began the rest of the session on the island.
This engagement session was so neat and adventurous! I love that none of us wore shoes through the entire session and the fact we were on an island is just super cool.
We headed back to their house towards the end of the session, talked about wedding plans a bit on the boat and ended the night with a few photos of them on the boat. Engagement photos on a boat was on my dream list of engagement sessions to photograph. Check! What a great, fun experience.
