Photographers, Let’s Talk About Shoes

Best shoes for wedding photographers written by Virginia Wedding Photographer Sarah Botta Photography

Photographers, let’s talk about shoes!

Wedding days are long and tough on the feet so we know how important it is to find a good shoe! Since we are on our feet for 6-10 hours with a lot of walking, carrying equipment, going outside, walking through grass, etc., we need to find a durable shoe as well.

A few years ago, I asked this shoe question to my photographer friends on Facebook. They all sore by Crocs! I purchased myself a pair and wore them to a wedding. Mistake!! I learned a huge lesson. NEVER buy a shoe and wear them to a wedding without wearing them around for a few days first – just making sure they are comfortable. Seems like common sense right?! The Crocs I purchased were SO uncomfortable! They made my feet blister and bleed. I wanted to be barefoot so badly but knew I couldn’t be barefoot at a wedding! So not professional. After this horrible experience, I needed to find an all around comfortable, cute, and durable shoe.

This is when I discovered ROTHY’S!!!

Rothy’s are amazing. They are not only a super cute shoe but they are incredibly comfortable! Rothy’s don’t rub or cause any discomfort. They form to your foot and the best part? They are washable!! Rothy’s are made from recycled water bottles which is super cool! I love that I can wear them through grass, mud, etc. and wash them after a wedding day. Rothy’s are extremely durable.

Photographers agree that the following shoes are super comfortable, cute shoes to wear to a wedding.

– Rothy’s

Photographers agree that the following shoes are NOT a good wedding shoe.

Tieks – Very expensive, cause blisters
Croc flats – Rub in all the wrong places, cause blisters and bleeding
