Time for a weekend update! What a gorgeous weekend for a wedding. I love Memorial Day weekend weddings though I might be a little biased since I got married Memorial Day weekend 6 years ago!
Gordon and Leah tied the knot on Saturday at the Ceresville Mansion in Fredrick, Maryland. Their wedding day was gorgeous though through the day did become overcast (which was great for photos!). During their ceremony it started to spit rain. They were covered by all the gorgeous greenery growing on the arbor but then it started to pour down rain!! I mean pour!! Leah had this look on her face like “what should we do?!” Gordon reassured her it was ok and they would keep things going. Most guests ran over to the tree line to take cover. This is why everyone was standing in the Instastory I posted! Others were given umbrellas by the quick thinking of the wedding coordinator and my second shooter. Thank goodness for umbrella’s!! We were able to keep things moving and they tied the knot! After their I do’s they walked down the aisle and just laughed because the rain had stopped! It picked back up again but luckily it stopped long enough for everyone to go inside for cocktail hour.
A few take aways/ lessons learned from this weekends events:
– I always work with second shooters but this wedding was a great reminder of why. During the ceremony when it started to pour, my second shooter grabbed her clear umbrella’s from her car and handed me one. I would have been a drenched mess because I didn’t want to miss photographing anything! It’s always nice having another set of hands.
Special thanks to the vendors who made Gordon and Leah’s wedding so special!
