Hosting My First Workshop
That’s a wrap! I can’t believe I hosted my first ever Essential DSLR Basics Workshop! This workshop is something that’s been on my heart and mind the last year or so. After guest speaking at Liberty University this past fall, it gave me the confidence I needed to go for it.
Over the last two years, I can’t tell you how many people asked me to “teach them photography,” “how to take better photos,” or if they could mentor with me. I wanted to host a workshop that could teach beginner photographers how to learn the settings on their camera, not feel intimidated by their camera, and take their photography knowledge to a new level. I also wanted to limit the number of attendees because I know I personally learn better and feel more comfortable in smaller groups. The intimate setting in my home made our time together feel more like talking about photography with friends over coffee rather than a workshop which was exactly the vibe I was going for.
Intimidation to Drive and Eagerness
At the beginning of the workshop, I could see intimidation in their eyes as I spoke and by the end of our time together you could see a shift from intimidation to drive and eagerness. They wanted to take their cameras home and practice!! They saw the difference camera settings make when used correctly together and their eyes lite up when they saw the image they photographed and said, “I can’t believe I took that!”
I’ve already been asked if I will host more workshops and the answer is yes! I want to continue helping photographers learn and expand their photography knowledge. Another workshop probably won’t be until 2020 but if you’re interested, be sure you email me [email protected] and sign up for my newsletter so you’re the first to know about the next workshop.
