Towards the end of the summer, I was asked if I wanted to be part of a Charleston inspired Rust Manor House Wedding. I was going to be working with Olivia from Tilly and Teal as she brought her vision to life. The more she told me about her inspiration, the more I liked it. The best part was I could show up and not have to be the planner. Planning styled shoots is no easy task and Olivia executed her vision beautifully!
When I asked Olivia about where her inspiration came from she said, “I went to the College of Charleston my freshman year of college and although I didn’t continue my education there, that year in Charleston had a big impact on who I am today. I love the city of Charleston and wanted to use it as inspiration for the shoot. I chose the venue, wedding dress, colors, florals, etc. all based on the city and I think I did a good job of choosing Charleston-like pieces.”
Since the pandemic, planning styled shoots have become harder since everyone is stretched thin and essentially making up work for 2 years. Olivia said planning and interacting with all of the vendors was a lot of fun. “I think styled shoots are a great way for vendors to come together and have creative freedom while building connections and their portfolios.” This is one of the reasons I wanted to be part of this shoot. Getting to work closely with the vendors who played a roll in this styled shoot in hopes to work along side them in the future. Olivia said the inspiration session “turned out even better than I imagined” and I couldn’t agree more!
The day of our inspiration session was super hot and humid with a lot of bugs!! We were concerned we were going to get a summer storm right during our session. Thankfully the chance for the storm passed and we were able to take our time and be creative. This inspiration session was a lot of fun for me because it’s been awhile where I was able to have the time to feel super creative, not rushed, and simply enjoy taking artistic photos.

Despite the freezing temperatures (so cold I could barely feel my body after just 10 minutes!), their joy and […]

The charm of Rust Manor House set the stage for a wedding that was classic, elegant, and modern. Nestled in the peaceful embrace of a park, this venue provided a secluded, nature-inspired backdrop that perfectly matched the bride’s vision. She fell in love with the calmness of the surroundings, the sounds of birds chirping, and […]
