Every once in awhile a session opportunity comes along that’s completely different than anything I’ve ever photographed before. This Winter Studio Maternity Session is one of those sessions. When Jenae first inquired about her maternity session she wanted to have the session outdoors but she wouldn’t have been much more than 20 weeks which is way too soon for maternity photos (unless you’re having twins). After some more thought, she decided she wanted a studio session because it would have been way too cold for a maternity session in January in Virginia. This made me incredibly excited and nervous because it was going to be something totally new for me.
Since moving from Woodbridge to Winchester, my new studio is capable of capturing maternity sessions whereas before the ceilings were too low and the space was way to small for anything other than young children and newborns. When Jenae mentioned a studio session, I leaped for joy at the opportunity. I had always wanted to photograph a studio maternity session but could never capture those types of sessions since my studio space wouldn’t allow for it.
I met Jenae and Mark a few years ago in Harper’s Ferry for their engagement session. They were planning a wedding in Louisiana a few months later. When I heard from Jenae and Mark again they told me they were expecting which is always such an exciting moment. Knowing Jenae’s style, I knew that what she had in mind for her maternity session would be very classy and elegant. I was right! I loved capturing this session so much and I look forward to all the future sessions I’m able to capture in the new studio.
As 2023 drew to a close, I had the privilege of capturing the radiant moments of David and Laura’s Maternity Session in the heart of Downtown Winchester, Virginia. It felt like just yesterday when I first met this wonderful couple during their engagement session in 2019 – a memorable time when I was heavily pregnant […]
Returning to PawPaw, West Virginia, to photograph Baby Wren was an incredibly special journey for me. Having recently documented the newborn session of her older twin sisters, this experience held a unique resonance. As a mom of twins myself, I understand the delightful chaos that often accompanies such moments. The prospect of capturing that bustling […]
