This Fall Rust Manor Wedding was unlike any other of the 150+ weddings I’ve captured over the years. This one stood out for its remarkable beauty, and an unexpected twist that unfolded just 15 minutes before the ceremony – a sudden storm with lightning, thunder, pouring rain, and even hail! Typically, wedding days have predictable weather patterns – a bit of rain, clouds, sunshine, or stable conditions. However, this day at Rust Manor took an unexpected turn with a storm that seemingly appeared out of nowhere and persisted for hours.
In situations like this, one’s attitude becomes paramount, and Natalie and Mike showcased incredible resilience that truly saved the day. Despite the rain and uncertainty, their ceremony remained stunningly beautiful, and their radiant smiles illuminated the room.
All the vendors came together, huddling to swiftly devise contingency plans – Plan B, C, and D were in motion! We ultimately executed Plan D with unwavering commitment to ensure Natalie and Mike experienced the most exquisite ceremony possible. Rust Manor’s venue coordinator, with remarkable determination, navigated through the storm with a team to relocate the floral arch from the ceremony space to a tent. The floral arch, skillfully crafted by Petalos Floral Design, magically transformed the tented ceremony space.
The whirlwind 10-hour wedding was a learning experience for everyone involved. Being part of this incredible couple’s wedding day was an honor, and I am immensely grateful for the opportunity.
Here’s to a lifetime filled with love and happiness! Cheers!

As 2023 drew to a close, I had the privilege of capturing the radiant moments of David and Laura’s Maternity Session in the heart of Downtown Winchester, Virginia. It felt like just yesterday when I first met this wonderful couple during their engagement session in 2019 – a memorable time when I was heavily pregnant […]
Returning to PawPaw, West Virginia, to photograph Baby Wren was an incredibly special journey for me. Having recently documented the newborn session of her older twin sisters, this experience held a unique resonance. As a mom of twins myself, I understand the delightful chaos that often accompanies such moments. The prospect of capturing that bustling […]
